This page lets you calculate the value of a Series EE Savings Bond over its entire lifetime. With our EE Bond Calculator, you can view the bond’s value at 10, 20, and 30 years.
This page was designed to help users track the value of a Series EE bond over its lifetime. You can monitor how the bond's value increases each month, as well as see projected values at key milestones: 10 years, 20 years, and 30 years. The calculator assumes that the bond’s fixed interest rate remains unchanged after 20 years, though this isn't guaranteed. As noted by the U.S. Treasury, they reserve the right to modify the rate after 20 years. Additionally, the page shows how the bond's value would grow with the double-value guarantee. EE bonds are guaranteed to double in value after 20 years, which explains the sharp increase at that point. You can also track the accumulated interest and the bond’s current value—just hover over the current month on the chart to see the bond’s value.
EE bonds earn interest compounded annually, calculated semiannually, and distributed across the previous months. Please note that these values may differ slightly from official Treasury estimates because, if a bond is cashed in before 5 years, the Treasury deducts the last three months of interest as a penalty. We don’t account for this penalty, allowing you to see the bond’s actual value without early redemption fees.
To use the calculator, first select the bond's purchase month by entering the month and year. The purchase month determines the bond’s fixed interest rate. You can view all historical interest rates by clicking the blue link under the header. Next, select the bond's principal amount, which must be between $25 and $15,000. Finally, click "Generate" to view the updated chart along with the bond’s values at 10, 20, and 30 years. You can interact with the chart by clicking or hovering over it to see the bond’s value for each month.
